What's Your Chinese Zodiac in Chinese Culture?

You may be familiar with your constellation, but if you are learning Chinese, knowing your Chinese Zodiac is interesting for you, what's your Chinese Zodiac in Chinese Culture? You can figure out one person's age according to his or her Chinese Zodiac.

The Chinese Zodiac, known as Sheng Xiao in Chinese, is based on a twelve year cycle, each year represented by a different animal. These animal signs are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. The Chinese zodiac is calculated according to Chinese lunar calendar. People born under each sign are said to exhibit sets of personality traits unique to that sign, and somewhat associated with the animal itself. The system can further be refined by studying a person's birth month and even birth hour, but for most casual use, the zodiac is used with just the year.
